✔️ Bucket List Item #2

I LOVE TAHITI!!!!!!!! 

 The one phrase I have heard the most besides iaorana / bonjour is "mange bien soeur!" (eat well sister!) Seriously everyone feeds us SO much!!! One member was talking to me during dinner and said "you sister missionaries always come here looking so skinny. We gotta feed you so you can come back by end of your mission and be like *puffs out cheeks and makes fat gesture*" so wish me luck.

Spiritual experiences:
  • This week I went to the temple with a recent convert for her to do baptisms and the temple is sooooo pretty!!! Felt like home, such strong spirit!
  • Taught our ami (investigator)'s friends an impromtu rétablissement and one of them was crying and they both accepted for us to come back. Every time we share the first vision the Spirit FILLS THE ROOM. Pre-missionaries- MEMORIZE THE 1ST VISION AND SCRIPTURE MASTERIES NOW. Having them memorized in English has helped me SOOOOO much.
  • God just helps his missionaries so much. I literally walk around and there's druggys and dogs and sketchy things but I never feel in danger because 1) every 7 seconds someone waves and says "hi my sisters!" and 2) the Lord is with us always!!!! I feel so uplifted and strengthened all the time!
Btw (FATHER) the juice here is SSOOOOOOO HEAVENLY. Can't get enough.

The missionary is green. 
The sand is black.

THE SAND IS FREAKING BLACK, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! It's always been a dream of mine to see a black sand beach and turns out- basically ALL THE SAND IS BLACK HERE. Top 10 bucket List #2 checked off!!! 


Oh my goodness we went to the beach last week and I almost cried. IT was SOOOOOOO pretty. Seriously paradise. 

Also we literally sing hymns at the end and beginning of almost every lesson cuz Tahitians love their music. Literally makes me so happy.

And I was dozing off in sacrament meeting and this mami walked over to make sure I was ok, she was so concerned and I felt so embarassed but it was so funny. They treat us like princesses here.

You know in movies they'll show people in like shacks and run down houses in the middle of the jungle with naked kids and dogs everywhere but they randomly have a big tv and smart phones and you're like, what? Yeah welcome to Tahiti. I love it.

Anyway, Merry Christmas season, love you all and I love Christ!!!!!!!

Keep your eye focused on Him and you can do anything!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH H.  Tahiti. That's it. I LOVE TAHITI SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!!  IT'S LITERALLY ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES ON EARTH!!!! It's SO Pretty!!!!!! My zone is literally just a road that starts at the base and goes up into the mountain. My constant backdrop is GORGEOUS green mountains with a waterfall way off in the distance. We ride our bikes up and down with jungles and shacks and fruit trees all around and I'm just in awe.  It's just so pretty here and the food is awesome, the fish doesn't even taste like fish IT'S WAY BETTER and there are flowers everywhere. every tree has either fruit or flowers on it. It is INSANELY HOT THOUGH.  You kind of just always sweat. Also I have at least 125 mosquito bites on my legs. ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE, PEOPLE. Iaorana!!!!!!!!  Can I just say I loooooooove Tahitian!!!!  Fave words:  haamahanahana (enlighten)  nehenehe (can/beautiful)  haamaruuru (to thank)  faaamu (to feed)  faahaamana'oraa (reminder)  it's so weird and hard but I LOVE IT! Absolutely beautiful and fun and genius! We taught Tahitian members and RMs (TRC) on the SECOND DAY of Tahitian and it was awesome! That would've freaked out my pre-mission self but now I was just excited to get thrown in the deep end right off the bat. We literally just read phrases off our paper (after kind of learning how to pray and the pronunciation of words) and said maitai (good) to everything. It really helped because I'm a lot less scared to teach my teachers and learn Tahitian in general.It's super backwards and like caveman talk but SO beautiful and really humbling and mind blowing. Oh yeah I'm a missionary...

OH MY GOODNESS I LOVE THIS!!! It's seriously just so much fun and so exciting. It's honestly not as hard or busy as I thought it would be (thank you all for your tips and advice). It's like EFY or college just with a spiritual typhoon. You have a full day, but we have down time and freedom to choose when we do things. The first week was awesome! I said my first prayer in French so WAHOO! Missionary life is seriously just normal life with the spirit helping you accomplish a specific purpose. The first two days I'd be walking with ma collegue (companion) and I'd see to elders with name tags and thing 'Wow look! Missionaries!...' then remember that we're all missionaries, including me. Haha good times... I love finally being here and wearing a name tag and learning the gospel en francais. I still feel like me though. Just regular old Shaustia wearing cute dresses and saying #worthit and ' je ne sais pas ' too many times to admit. So far Fren...
