Prophet in New Zealand and Pray for Jeshaus

Image
You long time no see!  So Puurai, my area is basically just a huge cliff... everywhere. We're in a car and I'm driving #automatic #thankheavens and the hills are sooooooo steep like you don't even know and they're dirt and full of potholes and bumps and freaking speed bumps! #noidkwhydontask literally going up a hill and having to turn off the AC to give the motor more power wondering if we'll make it almost going up at a 95 degree angle and then ooh let's just put a speed bump here that'll be fun! Haha what a blessing me and Sœur Dias and Jeshaus (the car) aren't in the spirit world. We found a screw in our tire and we killed the battery and almost drove into a ditch and was soccer mom for the others in our zone this week so that was fun. Anyway this area is so great! Holy cow week of miracles. We helped a couple come back to church so the dad could baptize his 9 yr old girl. He went into the lesson wanting to wait a year to start the repentanc...

Nana Mahina! Just a city soeur...

Yo girl is outta Mahina quelle tristesse! It was sad to leave my beautiful Mahina with our wonderful amis and FANTASTIC members and my darling Soeur Anderson. Love that place 4-eva! Saturday we spent part of the day visiting all our amis and some members to say bye, and seriously man the Lord work some huge miracles there. It was a little daunting to get Matavai started but man has it progressed! It is a beautiful fabulous place that is always in my heart! And now I'm an STL in the city Faa'a , Puurai ward. Faa'a is where the airport is so it is in the middle of the big city. Literally it was SO weird it was like being in America but way more sketchy driving around. I'm in a car and I'm the one driving ahhhhhhh.  #prayformycompanion  Luckily it's automatic but I had to take the driving test with a manual and dang. That is so hard but fun and i stalled it more times than I'd like to count and almost died but STILL ALIVE! Love driving, even thoug...

Aita vau parau na roto i te re'o marite

We've decided that Tahitian grandma style is the best thing ever. Basically if you wear floral with different floral, or a skirt and top that are the same color just slightly different shades or wear as many different patterns as you can with a flower clip, scrunchie, and hair claw in your hair with a real flower behind your ear you are Tahitian. Or a homemade fabulous 80s style dress with ribbon and lace and floral prints galore!  Went to a waterfall again (didn't fall in!) and tried to talk to people the whole time but we never knew if they were american or french so we would awkwardly say something in one language and if they responded, keep talking and if they just stared at us, switch languages! Sometimes they would keep staring at us when we switched languages so… who knows. I have talked to SO many Americans this week holy cow. There were several huge cruise ships that came in, and we did studies in a touristy spot and the waterfall was touristy and our neighbor...

Oh sweet the joy this sentence gives

I know that my Redeemer lives! Joyeuses Pâques! Happy Easter! We had multi-zone conference this Week and I FINALLY saw my mtc brother that was in another island for forever so yay elder Morrison!! We did another service project in the same field and hacked away all the millions of layers of plants. Still alive! Did not chop anyone with my machete! Success! We're teaching an inactive member of the Church and the lessons with him are amazing! We never really make a plan but EVERY time the spirit guides the lesson and it ends up being exactly what he needs. Super powerful to witness, we just talk and testify and say whatever comes into our heads and then it turns out that it was the Spirit telling us these things to say. Saturday we had a faatamaaraa (meal appointment?) with our ami Ipu and his wife and it was so cute! They made all this Tahitian food and set up a table on the beach and gave us seashell necklaces and pareos (fabric wrap things, see photo) and w...

FEARLESS FAITH! Last time, on Hoarders

Image
Had a really awesome week!  Found out that the Prophet is coming to Tahiti at the end of May for the anniversary of the church being brought here  (first foreign mission of the church, 1840ish!) and I'm SOOOOO EXCITED! Went to the mission President's house last pday and painted with Soeur Fox and that was awesome. We talked and talked and painted a beach picture and ate american candy and talked some more. Love Soeur Fox sooooo much! On Thursday we went with a member family to clean a old lady's house. She lives alone and is sick so she can't really clean. I went in thinking "ok it'll probably take 1 maybe 2 hours just some basic cleaning"... nope. Turns out she's kind of a hoarder and we spent 3 hours just trying to clean up the food shelves and a little bit of the kitchen. There were sooo many spiders and spider webs and mold and rat poop, etc. We also found food that expired from almost every year sin...

GENERAL CONFERENCE YAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!

Image
GENERAL CONFERENCE YAAAAAAAAY!!!!!! Oh wow loved it so much. We woke up at 4:30 to watched it direct (see photo where I look dead in car with my dead comp and the somehow always gorgeous Soeur Fowers) in the bishops office with all the Americans in English with way too much food (conference chips baby) and it was just amazing. Watched a couple talks in French and it was cool to understand! Except when they made jokes... Loved elder Gong's (I think?) talk about the Savior being the Lamb and the Shepherd. That shows me His infinance, that He knows the role of being a member of The Godhead, our Ruler and Guardian but also the role of being below us all, being completely helpless and small and was sacrificed for us. So I don't remember if i talked about Kathy before but we met her one day and pretty sure she was on drugs cuz she was telling us that she was Satan and we're angels and all sorts of stuff but we kept seeing her by chance and every time she was more and more...

Never try to share- always goes wrong

We had a huge service project this week for an old couple in another sector. They have this huge piece of land that I swear has NEVER been cleared out. It was waste high with plants so we went over there with machetes and sickle things and started hacking away.. The problem was that the plants weren't one layer deep, but I swear there was no actual dirt- just thousands of layers of old plants. But aside from a couple wasp stings, blisters and a really sore back, no one got injured and we had so much fun! I have never sweated so much in my life!!! Literally didn't have any sweat marks cuz my whole shirt was wet... gross. but again super super fun and the mamie was so cute. We also had a lesson with an inactive member who we weren't sure if he really wanted to come back but this week he said that after he started falling away no one came and saw him and it stayed like that for a looong time and he wondered if God forgot about him then one day we just show up (got his name...
